
A 19-year-old man from Huntington Beach has been taken into custody by Costa Mesa authorities in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old woman. The Costa Mesa Police Department has identified the suspect as Oscar Saldivar, who was arrested on June 6 following an investigation into the incident which took place on June 2, according to a KTLA report.
Saldivar is suspected of killing Monserrat Colorado, who was discovered with several gunshot wounds on Lukup Lane in Costa Mesa, per the police department's announcement on Facebook. Despite the efforts of first responders, Colorado succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital. The nature of the relationship between Saldivar and Colorado is still under investigation, and as of now, no motives have been disclosed to the public, police said.
During the course of the investigation, detectives recovered a firearm while executing search warrants in Huntington Beach, which possibly links to the case. The Costa Mesa Police Department plans to submit their findings to the Orange County District Attorney's Office for review and possible prosecution, as outlined in a Facebook post by the CMPD.
