An inmate at Bexar County Jail has died following a suicide attempt earlier this week, official sources confirm. On June 27, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office reported that 27-year-old Adriana Lastra had died after being removed from life support. According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, her death has been ruled a suicide. KSAT Investigates learned that Lastra was initially arrested in April 2025, on a charge of assaulting a peace officer.
Lastra's suicide attempt was thwarted on June 23 when a deputy, performing a routine check found her eleven minutes ahead of the scheduled time. "Facility medical staff took over until first responders with the San Antonio Fire Department arrived and transported Lastra to University Hospital for further treatment," the Bexar County Sheriff's Office stated. Following consultations with the medical team, Lastra's family elected to cease life support, leading to her passing on the evening of last Thursday, according to information obtained by FOX San Antonio.
Along with its own review, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has informed the Texas Commission on Jail Standards about the incident. As required by the Sandra Bland Act, the Castle Hills Police Department is handling the death investigation, while Bexar County Sheriff’s Office’s Internal Affairs Unit is doing an internal review, as per FOX San Antonio.
