The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman who was in custody at the Pueblo County Jail. The inmate, whose name has not yet been released, was discovered unresponsive in her cell yesterday afternoon, as reported by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.
Despite having been in jail for just over 24 hours, deputies, along with jail medical staff, quickly began life-saving measures after the woman was found. Assistance was rendered by Pueblo Fire and American Medical Response personnel, but alas, with a weak heartbeat, the woman was rushed to a local hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead.
Initial findings by the sheriff's officials point toward an absence of foul play in the woman’s untimely death. It is the Pueblo County Coroner's Office that will be tasked with announcing the identity of the woman, along with the official cause and manner of her death, once the appropriate time arrives.
