Chaos unfolded at a hotel swimming pool on the Northwest Freeway when an intoxicated man was arrested after nearly drowning a child in a disturbing incident. The suspect, identified as Kyle Papke, was taken into custody by deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office. According to a Facebook post by the Precinct 4 Constable's Office, the deputies responded to an injury to a child call last Sunday.
Upon arrival, the officers found that Papke, clearly under the influence, had approached an unknown juvenile male. In an alarming act, he picked up the child by his neck, flipped him upside down, and threw him into the pool, which is reported to have nearly resulted in the young boy's drowning. Officials have confirmed that there was no prior relationship between the child and Papke.
The swift response of deputies from Constable Herman's office may well have saved the child from grave harm. "Kyle Papke was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, for Injury to a Child. His bond was set at $2,500.00 out of the 351st District Court," stated Constable Mark Herman in the same Facebook post. The constable's office has used this incident to remind the public to download their mobile app “C4 NOW,” designed to keep residents informed about crime, arrests, and traffic accidents in their area.
