The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has turned to social media in hopes of enlisting the public's assistance in solving a high-end theft case. Last month, two women were reported to have stolen over $1,500 worth of athletic wear from a well-known athleisure store located at the St. Johns Town Center. The store's surveillance footage and employees' testimonies suggest a coordinated effort in the crime, with one suspect acting as a lookout and the other stuffing merchandise into her bag.
According to the official social media post by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, there was no attempt made by the suspects to pay for the items they selected. The store employees relayed this detail, setting off an investigation that led to the current appeal for public aid. "The women took more than $1,500 in merchandise!" the Sheriff's Office reported, emphasizing the scale of the theft.
The local authorities have asked for anyone with information about the identity of these two individuals to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904.630.0500. Anonymous tips are also encouraged and can be directed to First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1.866.845.TIPS. The Crime Stoppers offer is not just for the good Samaritans out there—there's an incentive involved. Useful tips could snag a person a cash reward which, presumably, could fund their own legal retail therapy.
For those searching for familiarity in unfamiliar faces, the Sheriff's Office has also pointed to their "Unsolved Crimes" page—a repository of cold cases that may spark the recognition of potential witnesses. "Don’t know them? You can still help, check out our Unsolved Crimes page. You never know who else might look familiar," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office urged.
