The City of Kirkland seeks residents to fill vacancies on its Planning Commission and Tourism Development Committee. Kirkland's City Council has expressed an interest in hearing from a diverse array of voices within the community to help guide the city's development and policies.
"We’re always interested in perspectives that reflect Kirkland’s ever-changing and diverse community," Councilmember John Tymczyszyn stated, per the City of Kirkland. "Serving on a board or commission is a meaningful way for people of all backgrounds to help shape the future of our city." The committees are crucial in developing community projects and policies through information gathering, public engagement, and complex issue analysis.
Appointments to these committees are made by the City Council, with interviews for potential members anticipated to be scheduled between late July and early August. Kirkland community members who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. The deadline for the Tourism Development Committee is 4 PM on July 7, and for the Planning Commission vacancy, it is Friday, July 11, by 4 PM.
