The Kaua‘i County Police Commission is on the lookout for a new Police Chief, and it's calling on the community to weigh in. The Commission is hosting a survey, inviting all residents to express their opinions on what qualities the next leader of Kaua‘i Police Department should have. Open until June 30, the "Police Chief Desirable Traits" survey represents a move toward community engagement in the decision-making process, as reported by the County of Kaua'i.
Recognizing that every resident is a stakeholder in such a pivotal position, the Commission is broadening the conversation beyond the usual confines of law enforcement. According to a notice posted on the official County of Kaua'i website, they believe that the appointment of a new Police Chief is a matter of communal interest. Consequently, the insight garnered from this survey is set to play a role in guiding the selection process, a gesture signaling transparency and a desire to consider public perspective in the shaping of Kaua‘i’s police force.
The Commission is committed to making sure everyone can participate.
