The Department of Water (DOW) will be hosting an open forum on the Kapaʻa Homesteads Tanks Project in Kauai, and community members are encouraged to participate. Slated for next Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the event will be held at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish. This gathering, as reported by the County of Kauai's official government press releases, aims to provide a platform for public input on the project. For those joining, refreshments will be on hand, providing a small comfort during the discussions of municipal water infrastructure.
During the meeting, the public can expect to receive detailed information about the work being undertaken, which involves replacing an old 0.2 million-gallon storage tank with two newer models, each boasting a 0.5 million-gallon capacity. While residents receive a review of the project, approximately 1,700 linear feet of water lines, including both 16-inch and 12-inch diameters, and the related equipment, will also be discussed as needing construction.
The DOW has made it clear that the event is open to all, ensuring that those requiring assistance to participate can be accommodated. Requests for auxiliary aids or services, or modifications of policies to ensure effective communication, should be made in advance. "Anyone requiring auxiliary aids or services for effective communication, or needing a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity, should contact the Department of Water as soon as possible at 808-245-5455," reads the announcement from the County of Kauai government website. They recommend making such requests no later than 48 hours before the event.
