As the Fourth of July approaches, residents of Kingsport can expect a brief pause in government-related hustle. The City of Kingsport announced that its offices will be taking a day off in observance of Independence Day. For those marking their calendars, that's this Friday, July 4. This means that if you have any pressing city hall business, you'll want to get that sorted before the long weekend, or wait until the following Monday to knock on their doors.
According to the City of Kingsport, despite the festivities, "The city will not be adjusting garbage or trash/yard waste routes due to the holiday." So, go ahead and put your trash out as usual—city sanitation crews will handle it like any other week.
However, not all services are immune to the holiday's effect. If you've been planning a trip to drop off bulkier items, take note. The Kingsport’s demolition landfill, found off Brookside Lane, and its convenience center, located on Industry Drive, are taking a short hiatus. They won't be open to the public on July 4 and July 5. For those with piles of debris just waiting to be discarded, the sites will swing back into action on Monday, July 7.
