A 55-year-old man, Edwin Ibanez, has been arrested in connection with a string of retail thefts at the Lowe's store on Pleasant Hill Road in Kissimmee, reported by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. According to FOX 35 Orlando, the arrest followed the receipt of store reports and an investigation into incidents that occurred between March 27 and April 28. Store surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspect, capturing not only his vehicle but also a readable license plate, according to deputies.

Upon further investigation, officers found that Ibanez had been driving on a suspended license and was wanted for a probation violation in Pinellas County. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office sprang into action following a tip last Wednesday, and by the next day, a specialized unit had Ibanez in their sights. A coordinated felony traffic stop soon led to his apprehension at the intersection of Old Pleasant Hill Road and Cypress Parkway, without incident, WESH reported.

Post-arrest, Ibanez's confession appeared to seal his fate. He admitted to the six thefts and revealed his intent to sell the merchandise for a profit. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office narrated to reporters that after being read his Miranda Rights, "Ibanez confessed to all six thefts and admitted to selling the stolen goods for profit." Law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed the total value of the merchandise stolen, as WESH reported.

Charges filed against Ibanez are serious and include two counts of grand theft, four counts of petit theft, six counts of dealing in stolen property, and the operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license. He is currently in the Osceola County Jail pending legal proceedings.
