In Knoxville, community engagement blossomed with a sense of camaraderie and learning as the YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center was abuzz with activity. According to a social media post by the Knoxville Police Department, East District Community Partnership Officers teamed up with KPD's Summer in the City interns to provide a hands-on educational experience to 50 local kids, participants of the Summer Kids in Play Program.
The young attendees were given insight into the world of law enforcement through the eyes of the Forensic Unit, K-9 Unit, and the Drone Team. As quoted in the post, the police department expressed that "Yesterday was a fun day at the YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center!" further cementing the success of the event.
