Heads up, commuters and Lake County residents! If you're planning on using the I-90 and SR 528 interchange in the coming weeks, you'll need to map out some detours. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 12, Cleveland, has announced upcoming ramp closures as part of the ongoing safety improvements that kicked off last year. So let's get into what this means for your daily drive.
According to the social media post from the Ohio Department of Transportation District 12, Cleveland, starting Monday, June 16, the I-90 eastbound entrance ramp will be out of commission for about a week. Then, come Monday, June 23, a week later, it's the I-90 westbound exit ramp that'll be getting the same treatment—also set for a week-long closure. These closures are part of the final touches on a safety project that has been in the works since 2024.
Now, nobody likes getting stuck or having to extend their commute, especially when it's due to construction. But ODOT ensures that all detours will be clearly marked to help navigate around these ramp closures. It's all in the name of safety, as these improvements are meant to reduce the risk of accidents in this busy area, a noble cause even if it does mean a slight inconvenience for drivers in the short term.
