
Authorities in Las Cruces are on the lookout for a man accused of a stabbing that took place early in the morning on Saturday, June 14, along East Idaho Avenue. The Las Cruces Police Department reports that the incident occurred shortly after midnight when a 39-year-old man was approached by an individual demanding his car keys.
When the victim refused, the confrontation escalated, leading to the victim being stabbed. Despite his serious injuries, the 39-year-old managed to escape and seek help at a nearby Walgreens on El Paseo Road, where police and fire personnel responded. According to the Las Cruces Police Department, the victim was subsequently airlifted to an El Paso hospital for treatment.
The suspect has been described by the victim as an African-American man around 5-feet-11-inches tall, with a dark complexion, sporting short hair, and a goatee. At the time of the attack, he was seen wearing an oversized black hoodie, dark pants, and was noted to have spoken with what could be a Midwest or East Coast accent.
