
The bright lights and energy of South Las Vegas Boulevard were marred by tragedy recently, when an eruption of gunfire claimed the lives of two individuals. Hoodline reports that officers discovered the victims around 10:40 p.m. following the shooting. Despite the quick response of medical teams, the victims' injuries were fatal and they were declared deceased, turning the incident into a homicide investigation led by the Homicide Section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A suspect at the heart of this violent act has now been apprehended. Manuel Ruiz, 41, surrendered himself to authorities at a Henderson police station on June 9, as per the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reports; he now faces two counts of Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon. Ruiz’s surrender to the police and ensuing arrest brings a new chapter to the ongoing investigation into this double homicide.
With the suspect now in custody and awaiting booking at the Clark County Detention Center, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is still investigating.
