If you've got a law enforcement officer in mind who deserves a shiny badge of honor for their service, time is ticking to get those nominations in. Attorney General Gentner Drummond is sending out a last-call to officially nominate the standouts in Oklahoma's law enforcement for the Officer of the Year 2025 Awards. The cut-off date? June 30, so chop-chop. As reported, it's now or never for law enforcement agencies statewide to spotlight their finest.
While only the badges themselves – meaning the agencies – can send in the nominations, Drummond's not shutting out the public. Instead, he's urging folks to get in touch with local agencies if there's an officer they believe shines in their badge and a heart that beats for the community. "Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities," Drummond shared, "and it's important we recognize those who go above and beyond the call of duty," as mentioned on the Office of the Attorney General website. Sounds like community heroes get their due props if the people speak up.
Don't think it's just the city cops or the sheriffs getting the nod: nominations are open across the spectrum – college campus officers, state troopers, the tribal police, and even federal agents who've clocked some serious work in Oklahoma in the past year and a half are eligible. For those armed with the authority to put someone up for the award, get giving those kudos via the Officer of the Year webpage, as the AG's office pointed out.
