The City of Lewisville is opening its doors to creative minds interested in shaping the future skyline, infrastructure, and the very ethos of the community as it calls for applications for its Lewisville 2035 Steering Committee. Echoing the success of the previous Lewisville 2025 vision plan, this new initiative seeks public participation to forge a path into the next decade.
"What will Lewisville look like in 10 years? Where should City leaders place more - or less - emphasis going forward? What is the next great opportunity for Lewisville?" These questions, as posed by the City of Lewisville, are not rhetorical. They are a call to action for residents inclined towards civic engagement and urban planning. Applications are open through Friday, June 20, offering a platform for local voices to influence key decisions on land use, budgeting, and development. Yet, the kindling of such civic imagination is not merely an invitation but an urgent imperative for a community in the relentless throes of change.
According to the announcement on the City's official website, the update to the vision plan will leverage resident and business input across the city. The Lewisville 2035 vision will be grounded in areas marked as pivotal, with the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, and City staff turning to it for strategic insights.
Prospective committee members can anticipate an 18-month tenure of robust dialogue and transformative brainstorming. They will be at the forefront of public meetings, contribute through focused subcommittees, and echo the diverse voices of their neighborhoods. Moreover, they're expected to serve as ambassadors during the planning process, ensuring that the journey to 2035 is trodden with collective input and shared vision. Notifications for successful applicants will be sent on or before July 10, with the Steering Committee's inaugural meeting slated for the week of July 14.
