But they need to act fast; the deadline for completed applications is sharp on Monday, Aug. 4. The city has put out an invitation for these young individuals to act as advisors on youth issues, directly to the city council members themselves, as per the news release on the city's website.
The Council isn't all talk; it's about hands-on experience. Members are set to assist with special events, contribute to the development and assessment of community programs, and conceive fresh initiatives to rally their peers around. They'll also do the important work of representing the city's youth, both by completing service projects and telling their own stories. To be eligible, candidates need to be between the ages of 15 and 18 as of September 1, residents of Lewisville, and enrolled as high school students, which inclusively extends to those in homeschool programs. The term commitment is from September 2025 through May 2026. According to the city's website, successful applicants must "demonstrate leadership in school and/or community activities, and harbor a curiosity in learning more about their community.
