An investigation into a string of thefts at the Dupont Manufacturing Facility in Salisbury, North Carolina, over the Memorial Day weekend has culminated in arrests, the Rowan County Sheriff's Office reported. Suspects made off with an estimated $80,000 in aluminum, handling their heist with a black Chevrolet pickup that towed a single axle trailer. Details including an aftermarket bed cover, chrome step rails, and numerous stickers splayed across the rear windows, hinted at a personalized touch to their getaway vehicle.

The break in the case came when detectives were able to not only identify but also to finally arrest two Lexington men, according to an update on the Sheriff's Office social media page. Found in possession of the truck was Michael L. Norris, who following the execution of a search warrant at his residence on June 10, led authorities to Terry Vanzant—further implicated as an accomplice.

Law enforcement placed Norris under arrest, slapping a $20,000 secured bond on him for his part in the caper. Vanzant, his alleged partner in crime, did not fare much better with his bond set at $25,000. Both suspects are now waiting for their day in court, as evidence mounts against them.

Contributing to the takedown, the Lexington Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division and Patrol Officers were acknowledged for their aid, a chord of gratitude struck in the message from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office which read, "We appreciate the assistance and support of Lexington Police Department CID and Patrol Officers in helping bring this case to a successful resolution." The office also reminded the public to do their part and report crimes through Crime Stoppers at their website, or by calling a dedicated phone line.
