The city gears up for the transformation of Lincoln Beach, a step toward both reflecting the community's input and enhancing the coastal experience for future generations. After a year of collecting over 10,000 points of public input, the City has outlined Phase 1 of the Lincoln Beach Redevelopment, aiming to address access, infrastructure, and sustainability concerns, according to a newsletter shared by their office.

In the preliminary phase scheduled to begin in December 2025, construction plans include the establishment of a new pedestrian bridge complete with elevators, improvements to the shoreline, and beach nourishment. Additionally, the site will see the introduction of a new parking lot, restrooms, and a lifeguard station. Adding to the comfort and educational aspects, the construction will also incorporate shaded areas and cultural signage for visitors. Notably, these developments are expected to pave the pathway for an early 2027 beach reopening.

In preparation for the start of the project, there will be a Construction Manager-at-Risk (CMAR) Contractor Selection Meeting on Friday, June 27, which will be held at 1300 Perdido Street, Suite 4W05 at 9:30 AM. It marks a critical planning step in shaping the project according to the vision set by the community consultations and feedback.

City of New Orleans officials have emphasized that the project's design and anticipated outcome are a direct result of communal engagement, saying, "This project is shaped by your voice," and expressing gratitude for the assistance in building a destination that "honors history, welcomes all, and lasts for generations."
