A Long Island man has been arrested for a murder-for-hire scheme where he allegedly offered $100,000 and 10 acres of land in India as payment for the kidnapping and assassination of his former business partner. Navdeep Singh, 48, from Dix Hills, now faces charges of conspiracy and criminal solicitation.

Reports from NBC New York say that Singh spent a week in early June communicating with someone he believed to be a hitman, to whom he handed over four cellphones and $7,000. He also stands accused of having provided photos of the target's Nassau County home and vehicle. On June 7, Singh allegedly drove by the victim's home with the "assassin" in what seemed to more firmly set their plan in motion.

The intended victim was a former business partner, involved in a protracted multimillion-dollar civil litigation suit with Singh, according to Nassau County officials. As detailed by PIX11, the District Attorney Anne Donnelly described the heinous intent behind the plot, stating "He wanted his victim to be decapitated" and that "[Singh] wanted him to suffer before he died."

The alleged assassin turned informant and alerted authorities about the plot, with Singh's arrest following soon after. Prosecutors have revealed that Singh wished his victim to be taken out of state to be tortured and dismembered.
