In a concise plea shared by the City of Mankato, Minnesota Government, a small, longhaired, black and tan dog was reported found on June 27, near State Street. The lost canine is now waiting at the City of Mankato Impound, hopeful for a reunion with its owner.
The dog, which looks well-cared for, ended up at the impound facility located at 903 Mound Avenue, nestled inside Sibley Park. The public safety authorities have requested that the rightful owner, or anyone with information that could help bring this story to a joyous close, should contact them immediately. They have made it clear that in order to claim the dog, arrangements for pick-up must be made through contacting Public Safety at 911.
For those who think they may know the dog or the owner, there’s a sense of urgency in the City’s message. It's a call to action for members of the community to take a moment, look at the misplaced pup, and reach out if there’s a glimmer of recognition. This might just be the lucky break the dog needs to find its way back home.
An increase in digital connectivity has given rise to new avenues for addressing such everyday calamities, as lost pets. In essence, social media posts like the one from the City of Mankato become digital Wanted posters, broadcasting the faces of the lost to anyone scrolling by, in the hopes that the right set of eyes will land on them. The City has taken to such measures and provided additional information on its Facebook page.
