The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will close the spring inshore shrimp season at sunset on June 30. The closure covers state inside waters from the Mississippi/Louisiana state line to the Louisiana/Texas state line. A map of the closure area is available through the provided link, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced that shrimping remains open in the waters of Breton and Chandeleur Sounds within the double-rig line, as well as all state outside waters beyond the inside/outside shrimp line. This follows data from Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologists showing an increase in small, juvenile white shrimp. The closure of other areas is intended to protect these shrimp until they grow to a larger size.

Louisiana regulations require saltwater white shrimp to be at least 100 count per pound to be harvested or possessed in both inside and outside waters. This rule does not apply from October 15 through the third Monday in December. If the catch mostly includes seabobs or brown shrimp, undersized white shrimp must make up no more than 10% of the total catch by weight. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries may close additional areas if these rules are not followed.
