A tragic incident unfolded in Macomb County when a two-year-old toddler, identified as Maxwell Anderson, died after being found in the Clinton River on Monday, officials confirmed. The toddler was initially reported missing and was last seen at his home on Manse Street, near the river in Harrison Township.
Deputies and first responders arrived on the scene following a call about the missing child around 11 a.m., as per the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Approximately 30 minutes later, the young boy was discovered in the river. The deputies immediately provided aid before Maxwell was rushed to a local hospital, The Detroit News reported.
Despite the efforts of the rescue personnel and medical staff, Maxwell Anderson was pronounced dead at the hospital. "Maxwell Anderson, two years old, was pronounced deceased at the hospital, despite the efforts of MCSO Deputies and personnel, and medical professionals," the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said, per The Detroit News. The investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the toddler's disappearance and how he ended up in the river is ongoing.
