
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. launched the "Make Oklahoma Healthy Again" campaign at a news conference at the state Capitol. Oklahoma is currently ranked No. 47 in the 2024 America's Health Rankings by the United Health Foundation, based on factors such as clinical care and personal behavior.
Governor Stitt has submitted a waiver request to the USDA to remove candy, soda, and other confectionery items from SNAP benefits in Oklahoma, as per KFOR. This is part of the "Make Oklahoma Healthy Again" campaign, which "promotes common-sense health policies, medical freedom, and a return to personal responsibility," as mentioned by KOCO.
The "Make Oklahoma Healthy Again" campaign was launched by Governor Stitt and Secretary Kennedy to address health issues in the state. News9 reported that Kennedy, known for her role in the Food and Drug Administration ban of red dye No. 3, is promoting the campaign as a way to support “common-sense health policies, medical freedom, and a return to personal responsibility.” The effort combines policy changes and lifestyle improvements to improve Oklahoma’s health outcomes.
