Early yesterday morning, a pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a pickup truck on Loop 410, in an incident that is now under police investigation. According to Fox San Antonio, the event occurred around 1:50 a.m. near the intersection of Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel.
Upon arrival, the police found the body on the main lanes of Loop 410 shortly before the I-35 exit, with the involved Toyota Tundra pulled over nearby. Fleeing for reasons still unknown, a man in his early 20s had left a dance hall and begun running toward the highway, struggling through the parking lot. He ran across the main lanes when he was struck.
As reported by News 4 San Antonio, the driver identified as 42-year-old Joseph Cortez, was found to be intoxicated following an evaluation at the scene. Subsequently, Cortez was arrested.
