An early morning altercation on the city's Northside led to a man being hospitalized with a gunshot wound. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. yesterday, in the 10000 block of Harts Road, as stated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and reported by News4Jax. Officers discovered the man in his early 30s with a wound to his groin after he had been in a fight with two other suspects.
During the incident, the suspects fled the scene in a silver Jeep SUV. Descriptions provided by authorities indicate that one suspect is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a black shirt and black shorts, while the other was dressed in a red shirt with black shorts. According to First Coast News, JSO Sgt. Christopher Smith revealed that surveillance footage of the event has been obtained, and efforts are currently being made to understand the relationship between the involved parties.
After the shooting, the victim was promptly attended by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and taken to a local hospital with injuries reported as non-life-threatening. The arresting law enforcement officers, while arriving at the scene, noted the suspects had already made their escape down Harts Road, as documented by Action News Jax.
JSO has deemed the shooting an isolated incident and reassured the public that there's no ongoing threat. In closing, authorities are enlisting public assistance in the case. "We're currently looking for them at this time," Sgt. Smith told First Coast News.
