A tragedy unfolded at Lake Pueblo State Park when a man was pronounced dead following a failed CPR attempt at Rock Creek Cove, according to officials. The incident, reported via a 911 call at 2:11 P.M., saw Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) rangers and park visitors desperately trying to revive the adult male who had jumped into the water to cool off and subsequently became unconscious.

In a detailed account provided by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, bystanders and a nearby boater pulled the man onto a boat to commence life-saving efforts. CPW rangers arrived within six minutes of the call, and one ranger immediately took over the CPR efforts while racing to the North Boat Ramp. However, despite the quick response and arrival of a Flight for Life helicopter, the man was declared dead on the scene.

The Pueblo County Coroner is currently investigating the cause of death, but early indications suggest the absence of a life jacket might have contributed to the fatal outcome. Lake Pueblo Park Manager Joe Stadterman conveyed his condolences to the victim's kin and expressed concern, saying, "This death is under investigation, but it appears to be a tragic accident," in a statement obtained by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
