
Early today on Pittsburgh's North Shore, an incident of gun violence disturbed the usual quiet of the Water Steps near the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and PNC Park. At approximately 2:30 a.m., a man sustained a gunshot wound in an incident that has spurred an investigation by local authorities. According to WPXI, the victim was later transported to a hospital by unspecified means, arriving with injuries to his stomach.
CBS News Pittsburgh reported that responding officers located a crime scene by the water steps, which descend towards the riverwalk. Shortly after the police's arrival, the injured man was dropped off at a nearby hospital, presenting a gunshot wound to his torso. Despite the violent nature of the incident, he is expected to survive and is currently recovering.
No arrests have been made so far. Pittsburgh Police's Violent Crime Unit is leading the investigation into the shooting that broke the quiet of the early morning by the river.
