Yesterday afternoon's jaunt turned tragic on State Route 95 in Knox County when a motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 52-year-old woman, Bridgette Murray, of Mansfield, and left another woman with serious injuries. WBNS reports the incident occurred around 12:25 p.m. near milepost six north of Fredericktown. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) has stated that the 2020 Vespa GTS300 motorcycle, operated by 70-year-old Alicia Johnson from Plymouth, failed to navigate a curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn.
Both Johnson and her passenger, Murray, were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following the accident. Sadly, Murray did not survive the injuries she sustained and was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to ABC6, officials have noted that at the time of the accident, Murray was not wearing a helmet. In contrast, Johnson, who sustained serious injuries, was wearing her helmet, as confirmed by OSHP.
Investigations into the crash by the OSHP are ongoing, with no immediate indications of alcohol or drugs being a factor, per statements from the law enforcement agency.
