El Paso Sheriff's deputies have taken into custody 29-year-old Manuel Reyes, accused of a perplexing scene of armed robbery at a Subway restaurant. Donning a pink dress, high heels, a wig, and sunglasses, the alleged crime took place on the 12500 block of Pellicano Drive in Far East El Paso, KVIA reports. This unusual event transpired on June 22, 2025, promptly at 7:25 PM, and deputies made the arrest following the employees' descriptions of the suspect and his distinctive attire.
According to the staff members' accounts, Reyes approached them with a note stating "Money in the bag" then gestured towards a brown paper bag he carried, hinting at a concealed weapon. The suspect managed to make off with a meager sum of $50-60 in cash, but his unusual choice of disguise and subsequent escape in a white Nissan Frontier pickup truck did not evade law enforcement for long, as recounted by KFOX-TV.
Further investigation linked the white pickup truck to two additional robberies in the area, expanding the case's scope. Reyes was not only identified through the collaborative efforts of the El Paso Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the El Paso Police Department, but also arrested as the investigation widened, as revealed by KTSM. The Sheriff's Office has indicated that the case remains an active investigation, which suggests more details may unfold as law enforcement delves deeper.
