Martha’s Vineyard is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the film Jaws with a series of events beginning this weekend and continuing through the summer. The island, which served as the primary filming location for the 1975 movie, is offering screenings, live orchestral performances, and themed exhibits, according to Boston 25 News.

A free screening of Jaws at 50: The Definitive Inside Story at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center quickly reached capacity, though a streaming release is expected next month. Tickets remain available for a live orchestral screening of Jaws accompanied by the Cape Symphony.

An exhibit titled Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive is currently on display at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum through September, exploring the production and cultural impact of the film.

As reported by WBZ NewsRadio, the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce noted that visitors continue to visit the island’s filming locations. Additional scheduled events include author talks and a themed dog costume gathering called Barks & Sharks.

A stage production titled The Shark is Broken, which recounts behind-the-scenes experiences from the making of Jaws, will premiere at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center on July 5.
