A residential burglary in Palo Alto was abruptly disrupted last Friday when the occupants encountered intruders in their home. According to the Palo Alto Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on the 2300 block of Carmel Drive. The suspects, whose identities remain unknown, have successfully evaded capture and are currently at large.
The details, as reported, suggest an unsettling scene in which a man and a woman in their twenties were at home and startled to suddenly hear voices in their hallway. The man saw a masked male intruder at his room's door swinging open, leading the suspect to run out of the house hurriedly. Similarly alerted by the commotion, the female resident witnessed the fleeting sight of a flashlight and the back of someone as they raced down the hall to escape.
Preliminary investigation has shown that the suspects forced entry into the house by breaking the rear sliding glass door. In a fortunate turn of events, nothing was taken from the residence. Police officials' efforts to unearth more about the situation included reviewing local security footage, which revealed that the suspects had arrived and fled the vicinity in a sedan. The Palo Alto Police are now urging the community to come forward with any information that could lead to the resolution of this case.
