
An 18-year-old man from Mecosta County is involved in a fatal car crash that resulted in the death of a 57-year-old woman and injured a 72-year-old passenger, WZZM13 reports. The collision happened around 5:40 p.m. yesterday, on 14 Mile Road near 92nd Avenue in Martiny Township, when the young driver crossed the center line and hit a westbound vehicle.
The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office confirmed the identity of the driver involved in the collision as an 18-year-old local man, and the impact sadly led to the fatality of the oncoming car's driver, a woman yet to be named by the authorities; her passenger, another woman from the community, aged 72, was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening, UPNorthLive elaborated on the event, adding that the section of the road had curves which could have contributed to the tragic turn of events, yet investigators stated alcohol was not considered a factor.
