A young man from Memphis, identified as 20-year-old Marcus Coleman, is facing multiple charges after being accused of using a stolen vehicle to attempt to run over a Southaven police officer last week. The DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office has successfully filed to revoke his bond, ensuring that Coleman will remain behind bars at the DeSoto County Jail, a release by the office stated, "We’re changing his address — to a place with bars and no drive-thru," as reported by Action News 5.

According to WREG, the incident took place after the Southaven Police Department received reports of a stolen vehicle located at the Sonic at 1185 Main Street, around 10:45 a.m. last Friday. When officers attempted to stop him, Coleman allegedly rammed the stolen car into police vehicles and attempted to run an officer over. Shots were fired, which were shortly followed by Coleman's apprehension after a brief foot chase. Coleman is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow at 9 a.m.

The charges against Coleman include aggravated assault on a police officer, conspiracy to commit a crime – felony, disorderly conduct – failure to comply, driving on a suspended license, fleeing or eluding an officer in a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest, among others. In addition, Coleman was found in possession of a stolen firearm and other paraphernalia, as listed in the charges detailed by FOX13 Memphis. The suspect's actions led to a significant police presence in a usually quiet part of Southaven near the Sonic, with hours spent by officers clearing the incident scene.
