Memphis Police Department’s Fugitive Unit made a significant arrest on Friday when they apprehended 31-year-old Antonio Whitelo, a man with a staggering 42 open warrants to his name. As reported by Action News 5, the arrest occurred around 11:00 a.m. on the 1900 block of Todd Drive off South Third Street. The MPD confirmed that Whitelo had amassed the warrants within a span of two years, from 2024 to 2025.
Whitelo now faces numerous charges including theft of property, conduct involving merchandise, evading arrest, and harassment. His bond has been set at over $300,000. According to a social media post from the Memphis Police Dept, along with Whitelo's arrest, his vehicle, identified as a 2014 Jeep Patriot which he allegedly used for committing several offenses, was found and towed. This Jeep Patriot has become a notable aspect of the case, as it was reportedly integral in his alleged criminal activities.
The details surrounding the exact nature of his alleged crimes remain unclear, however, the volume of warrants suggests a pattern of persistent unlawful behaviors. Whitelo's history of evading arrest adds a layer of complexity to the pursuit and capture that required the dedicated focus of the Fugitive Unit. WREG's coverage of the arrest included that Whitelo's warrants were specifically mentioned to include evading arrest and harassment, pointing towards a notable disregard for law enforcement efforts.
