A local Walgreens was burglarized on Sunday, with the suspect fleeing with tobacco products and electronics. The Memphis Police Department responded to the scene at 4625 Summer Avenue after being alerted to the incident. According to the official Memphis Police Department news release, a male suspect is reported to have gained entry through the front door shortly before 2:00 a.m., proceeding to leap over the counter and snatch up some $600 worth of goods.
The purloined items included an assortment of lighters, phone chargers, and tobacco products, suggesting a targeted theft rather than a random act of vandalism or opportunistic crime. Authorities are currently on the lookout for the individual responsible, though, as of this writing, no description of the suspect has been released.
