
Memphis has become a witness to a series of brazen shoplifting incidents at Marshall's on Covington Pike, with reports of theft totaling over $1,140 in merchandise. According to a social media post from the Memphis Police Department, the first incident took place on May 30, when two Black females were seen selecting items over $300 and exiting without payment, followed by their escape in a black pickup truck.
Similarly, on May 24, officers were advised of another theft involving three individuals who loaded up luggage with clothes and cologne before slipping away, leaving the store short of merchandise worth over $650, and in yet another case on May 31, two Black females repeated this act with goods worth approximately $190, as per the Memphis Police Department. The suspects fled in a white SUV, demonstrating a pattern of repeated, targeted thefts within close temporal proximity to each other; demonstrating a pattern of repeated, targeted thefts within close temporal proximity to each other.
In nearby Appling Farms, El Mezcal also fell victim to theft of services on May 11, where two male Black suspects indulged in over $100 worth of food and drinks and then left without settling the bill. These incidents have not resulted in any arrests, and inquiries are ongoing – the Memphis Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward and contact their Austin Peay Station at 901-636-3201 for the Marshall’s cases or Appling Farms at 901-636-4427 for the El Mezcal case.
