
Residents of Tuckahoe Road are on alert after Memphis police reported an impersonation scam that has left one victim out of over $4,000. Between June 6 and June 11, an impersonator fraudulently made several purchases and issued e-checks from the victim's bank accounts. The transactions took place in the 4200 block of Tuckahoe Road.
The scam was unearthed last Thursday, June 12, when officers arrived at the scene following a distress call. Utilizing a fake identification, the perpetrator undertook transactions that amounted to a significant financial loss for the victim. The Memphis Police Department has shared the attached photo of the identification used in the crime, imploring the public to come forth with any information.
In an effort to curtail the spate of identity thefts, the department has reached out to the community through various channels. A statement on the Memphis Police website asks anyone who may know something about this particular incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH, ensuring anonymity for those who may fear retaliation.
