Residents near 2355 N. 35th St. are facing the upcoming closure of their local Pick 'n Save, which has served the area with groceries and other essential items. Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II said, “I was deeply disappointed to receive the call recently from Pick ’n Save leadership informing me of their decision to close the store that sits in the heart of our community.” He added, “Like many of you, I know how vital that store has been – not just as a place to buy groceries, but as a cornerstone for families, seniors, and neighbors to access fresh food and essential items close to home,” according to the City of Milwaukee.

The closure of Pick 'n Save will leave the community with fewer options for affordable food. Alderman Stamper is working with the Department of City Development and possible partners to find a new grocery store to take its place. Many residents rely on the store, and its closure could make access to food more difficult, especially for those without transportation. Stamper said, “I will continue to keep residents informed as we work toward a solution,” as reported by the City of Milwaukee.

Alderman Stamper has asked Pick 'n Save to extend its operations to avoid an immediate disruption in service and give more time to find a new grocery provider. “My top priority is ensuring that a quality grocery provider steps in as quickly as possible to serve the people who call this community home,” Stamper said. The request is part of ongoing efforts to keep food access available while discussions with potential replacements continue, as stated by the City of Milwaukee.
