In a recent surge to combat rampant dangers on the road, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety brought together over 40 law enforcement officers in a concerted effort to tame the Twin Cities' freeways of their wild driving habits. The operation, stretching across the vistas of Interstates 694 and 35W, yielded more than a staggering 150 citations for speeding alone, including one motorist who barrelled down the freeway at a blistering 139 miles per hour, according to a social media post by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
But the officers' vigilance extended beyond just catching speeders; they addressed a range of violations, including distracted drivers absorbed in their phones, motorists failing to yield to emergency vehicles, those neglecting to wear seat belts, and a particularly alarming case of driving under the influence with a child in the car, as reported by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
"Their work is important, but enforcement alone can’t save lives," the Minnesota Department of Public Safety stated.
