Minnetonka's city council has taken a series of steps to bolster the city's infrastructure and community inclusivity, according to a recent summary of their June 9 meeting. The City of Minnetonka has accepted the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and the associated audit provided by BerganKDV. The auditors delivered an "unmodified opinion" on the 2024 financial statement audit, without any audit findings, thereby underscoring the city's financial acumen and operational strength.
On a similar note, the council has earmarked the future of sports infrastructure by awarding a contract to Total Mechanical Services, Inc. The key improvement is the installation of a new refrigeration system, equipment, and controls, along with electrical, plumbing, and structural upgrades to bolster the Ice Arena Rink B. This project, incorporated in multiple Capital Improvement Programs (CIP), is expected to enhance the city’s recreation facilities in 2026.
Transportation within and through the city is also receiving attention—MnDOT is in the midst of a Highway 7 Corridor Study. This study aims to elucidate transport needs, identify improvement opportunities, and evaluate design alternatives that were disclosed in the recent city council update.
In a move celebrated by many, the city council issued a proclamation declaring June to be Pride Month. This proclamation acknowledges and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community, reinforcing Minnetonka's commitment to inclusivity and equality. The city openly embraces and promotes these values in a public recognition of what many hope will foster deeper community connections.
