The Minnetonka Police Department welcomed three new officers to their ranks this June, as reported by the city's official news page. Officers Liz Mohr, Jonah Bomchill, and Noelle Shandley have officially joined the force, bringing diverse experiences and a shared commitment to public safety and community engagement.
Officer Liz Mohr, who previously ran an in-home daycare for over 14 years, found her calling in law enforcement through Minnetonka's cadet program. Through rigorous training and education, Mohr earned her law enforcement degree from North Hennepin Technical College. After serving as a cadet for two years, she decided to firmly stay put in Minnetonka. "I've always been passionate about law enforcement and helping others," Mohr said, according to the city's announcement. She highlighted the department's dedication to "community engagement and public safety," citing these as lining up perfectly with her values.
Jonah Bomchill, who began his law enforcement career as a Community Service Officer in North St. Paul, joined Minnetonka's cadets in 2023 while pursuing his Criminal Justice degree. For Bomchill, the appeal of the Minnetonka Police Department lay in the strong sense of community and the support it offers to law enforcement personnel. "I grew up in Plymouth and was only within earshot of Minnetonka and all of the city events," Bomchill shared in a statement obtained by the city's news page.
Noelle Shandley took her first steps toward a career in law enforcement as a Maple Grove Police Explorer. After earning a Criminal Justice degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and completing the SKILLS program, she became acquainted with Mohr and Bomchill, who were cadets in Minnetonka at the time. Their positive feedback piqued her interest, which led her to sign up for a ride-along. "They had nothing but great things to say about Minnetonka," Shandley told the city news page.
The arrival of these new officers underscores the Minnetonka police department's focus on strengthening ties with the community and enhancing public safety. Details about their backgrounds, motivations, and interests can be found on the city's website at this link, where their official introduction was published on June 26th, 2025.
