Following a community-wide search effort, the Saint Paul Police Department reported the safe location of 80-year-old Shew Yee, who went missing on June 6 after leaving her Frogtown neighborhood home for a walk. According to a social media update by the Saint Paul Police Department, as of 2 AM, Shew "has been located and is safe."
Earlier, the Saint Paul Police had earnestly appealed to the public to help quickly find Shew, whose absence was out of character given her family's statement that she does not suffer from dementia and "does not have a history of wandering off." The police were particularly concerned given Shew's advanced age and the fact that she relied on the aid of a black cane. Their call to action was not only immediate but also personal. They updated her clothing description at 1:15 AM, a detail that underscored the urgency of their search, as per the Saint Paul Police Department.
Shew Yee was last seen wearing "a light blue shirt, red beanie, dark skirt-like pants, a traditional Karen purple stripped floral cloth bag," as described in the initial missing person alert. The Saint Paul Police Department actively sought the public’s assistance, broadcasting her description and urging anyone with information to come forward.
