The Modesto Police Department has released an update identifying the pedestrian who died in a traffic collision earlier this month. According to a department social media post, the individual was Gail McKee, a 55-year-old Modesto resident originally from Stockton. The incident occurred near McHenry Avenue and Fairmont Avenue.
The original report states that the incident occurred last Wednesday at approximately 9:10 p.m. Law enforcement responded quickly to the scene, where McKee sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, McKee passed away last Friday. The collision involved McKee and a 2014 Kia Optima. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, cooperated with authorities, called 911, and showed no signs of impairment. It was initially determined that the vehicle was traveling northbound on McHenry Avenue when McKee was struck.
