
The Monroe Police Department has reported an arrest in connection to the drive-by shooting that recently rocked the Skywatch Lane community. In a post on their official Facebook page, police shared that the violent event unfolded late Monday night when multiple individuals opened fire on two homes in the 600-block of the area, resulting in critical injuries to a 16-year-old male. The teenager, who is believed to have been involved in the shooting, was reportedly hit by accidental gunfire from one of his accomplices.
Authorities were alerted to the situation at 11:26 p.m., and a mere 13 minutes later, stumbled upon the injured youth at Atrium Union Hospital. Suffering from life-threatening wounds, the teen was urgently flown to a medical facility in Charlotte for further treatment. The rapid response by the Monroe Police underscores the pressing need for public safety in neighborhoods touched by gun violence.
In their ongoing investigation, the Monroe Police have arrested 17-year-old Maseon Ja’marcus Jackson. The young man, charged as an adult, is accused of Discharging a Firearm Into an Occupied Residence. According to the Facebook announcement, Jackson is now confined at a secure juvenile detention center, with a bond set at an imposing $1 million.
