A stroke of luck has graced a Montcalm County woman, who has claimed a life-changing $1 million from the Michigan Lottery's Electric 100s game. Her winning ticket was purchased at Zerkas General Store in Stanton, sparking a reaction so intense it could have surged through the very circuits of the Electric 100s game itself, as reported by WOODTV.
In a befitting scenario for such a high-voltage win, the woman, 57, was conversing with her daughter over the phone when she struck gold—or rather, electricity. "I scratched the ticket while I was on the phone with my daughter and when I scratched off the lightbulb symbol with ‘$1MIL’ next to it, I started screaming," she told Michigan Lottery Connect. The stunning revelation led her to scream "for 30 minutes straight," underlining the shock and euphoria that comes with such a sudden influx of wealth. Mistakenly, the daughter initially thought something bad had happened.
The winner opted for a lump sum payment that totals approximately $693,000, deciding against annuity payments for the full amount. With her newfound riches, she plans to light up her life and those of her family members, vowing to invest in a house, share with her family, and explore investment opportunities.
Creating a buzz across Michigan, the Electric family of games has recently electrified the lottery scene, offering players a shot at instant prizes and even a second-chance drawing slated to take place at a Detroit Tigers game later in the year. Players can scan their non-winning Electric family tickets on the Lottery app until August 24 to earn entries in the event, as mentioned by the Michigan Lottery Connect. After the win, the Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli extended congratulations to the anonymous winner, who is the first to claim the top prize from this game's inception that sparkled the interest of many hopeful participants.
Electric 100s launched with much fanfare and has already amassed over $5 million in payouts since its inception earlier this month. With more than $42 million in prizes still up for grabs, two more million-dollar windfalls wait in the wings, along with numerous other sizable cash prizes. This influx of fortune for players came after nearly $1.8 billion was won in instant games the previous year.
