
Earlier yesterday, tragedy struck two miles south of Rock Hill in York County, as a 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed after losing control and crashing into a ditch. According to Queen City News, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Catawba Church Road and Springdale Road. The victim, Bailey Griffin of Rock Hill, was riding a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound when he veered off the left side of the road and collided with the ditch.
Responding to the crash, emergency personnel found Griffin already deceased upon their arrival. The York County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity. Continued to investigate, the authorities have not yet released further details surrounding the incident's cause. WBTV reports that pathology and toxicology results are pending to help determine if any other factors might have contributed to the crash.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries have been reported. This fact underscores the isolated nature of the fatal event.
