Earlier today, a fatal collision claimed the life of a male motorcyclist at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Conant Street in Long Beach. Long Beach Police Department officers arrived at the scene following a distress call made at approximately 12:28 a.m., only to find the tragic outcome of events that unfolded in the still of the night.
The Long Beach Fire Department responded promptly, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, lying motionless amidst the northbound lanes of Clark Avenue, a stone's throw to the north of Conant Street. The official press release from the Police detailed that the man had been riding a 2009 Kymco Venox motorcycle when he collided with a 2016 Dodge Dart that was parked, his journey abruptly ending as his vehicle crashed into the immobility of the sedan's parked presence.
Investigators from the Collision Investigation Detail are closely examining the incident, with speed emerging as a possible factor in this untimely tragedy. They have ruled out distracted driving and the influence of alcohol or drugs, confirming that these usual suspects did not contribute to this particular journey toward the end.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin, as per the Long Beach Police Department. In the meantime, Detective Efrain Pineda of the Long Beach Police Department’s Collision Investigation Detail is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through LA Crime Stoppers, allowing individuals to share information confidentially.
