
A collision in Sorrento Valley has left a motorcycle rider with serious injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 4:13 PM on June 5th, when a 27-year-old male driving a black 2012 Ford Focus exited a driveway onto the 4900 block of Carroll Canyon Road and was struck from behind by a motorcycle, the San Diego Police Department reports.
The motorcyclist, a 62-year-old man piloting a black 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000, was reported to have been traveling at an unsafe speed and consequently slammed into the rear of the Ford Focus. Officer J. Perales, the SDPD Watch Commander overseeing the case, stated that the car's driver was unharmed in the accident. However, the motorcyclist was not as fortunate, sustaining six fractured ribs and a punctured lung, and was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Alcohol has been ruled out as a contributing factor in this serious injury collision. The SDPD's Traffic Division is taking the lead on the investigation, and they have yet to release further details about how the collision transpired or about the current condition of the injured party.
