
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's help to identify two suspects linked to a felony assault and theft that occurred in Southwest Washington, D.C. The incident took place on Sunday, near the waterfront, when two individuals allegedly attacked a man, causing him bodily harm and then absconding with his belongings, according to a statement issued by the MPD.
The confrontation and subsequent assault happened around 10:18 p.m. in the 700 block of Maine Avenue, Southwest, where the two suspects, according to the police department, both physically assaulted the victim, leading to his hospitalization in stable condition. The attack not only left the man injured, but also stripped of his property as it fell from him during the confrontation. Surveillance footage was able to capture images of the suspects, which have been circulated by the police in an effort to track them down.
Authorities have provided a contact number, (202) 727-9099, and a text tip line, 50411, for anyone with information to come forward. In accordance with department protocol, the MPD is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. As the investigation continues, the MPD urges the public not to take any action themselves but to report any relevant information to the police. The released photos are a key part of the department’s appeal for public assistance.
